Emergency Management System

Emergency management systems ensure a coordinated and organized response and recovery to all emergency events, when used by all agencies involved in the response and recovery. In BC, it is called the British Columbia Emergency Management System, BCEMS.

In BC, under the Emergency Program Management Regulation, local authorities must make provisions for the delivery of ESS. The provincial EM office (in BC, it’s EMBC) provides support to local authorities and their ESS teams by providing training and consultation in developing their plans.
